ADVANCE NOTICE OF AGM 2022

GENERAL SITE NEWS (Pending Update)

Our main pre-occupation since formation, in March last year, has been in trying to find a one acre site within the village so we can fulfil our aim of building ten affordable houses.  To support this aim it was first necessary to ensure that we created a properly functioning and legally correct CLT structure.  We then had to seek, and have successfully obtained, strong support from our Community, as evidenced by the very encouraging number of Members/shareholders who are now on our register.

This done, we have been properly placed to negotiate with third parties (e.g. Purbeck District Council) for a significant share of the Government funds which are now available to Community-led affordable housing groups.  We are also mandated to speak with authority to owners of potentially suitable land.

Over the past year or so, we have examined a number of potential sites but, apart from four, these proved unsuitable for one reason or another.  Of the remaining four, negotiations for two have proved unsuccessful, which leaves us two.  These are still subject to confidential negotiation with the landowners.  For this reason we are unable to divulge the location of these sites and we hope you will understand the need for confidentiality

In this vital work, we have received unstinting support from Steve Watson and his team at the Wessex Community Land Trust Project without whose help it is highly likely we would have struggled to establish our CLT.

The website is still a work in progress, but we would love to hear what you think of the entire project.  So, please use the newly established comments page to contact us on any subject related to the CLT.

We are still looking for quality photographs of the village and surrounds so, if you have any photograph you would like us consider, please send us it using the jpg format.

Although we have already demonstrated a high level of support from the Langton community with more than ninety members, we still need a few more to achieve the landmark figure of one hundred members.  If you know anyone who supports our Aims and Objectives please encourage them to join us. Details can be found elsewhere on this website.
